Tekken X Street Fighter, the Namco-Bandai half of the Tekken/Street Fighter collaboration is still being aimed for a release this generation, despite next gen consoles waiting in the shadows.

Tekken creator and all round awesome Japanese guy with swell facial hair Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed that we will see the first gameplay footage of his part of the Tekken meets Street Fighter collaboration in 2012.

Didn’t you hear? inFAMOUS’ Cole McGrath will be joining the ranks of Street Fighter X Tekken on Playstation Vita and PS3 when the game arrives next year and Capcom have released a new gameplay trailer of our electrifying friend in action.

Although the transfer of King, Yoshimitsu and Kazuya to the Street Fighter paradigm looks so far so seemless, you have to wonder how Ryu and co will transfer over to the world of Tekken, a universe with a impetus on close quarters combo combat. I mean, there’s no such thing as a Fireball in Tekken.

Tekken creator Katsuhiro Harada has revealed that development on Namco-Bandai’s part of the forthcoming Tekken/Street Fighter collaboration hasn’t exactly got off the ground. According to Harada, development on Tekken X Street Fighter is at “0%”.

Capcom have already given us a look at Street Fighter X Tekken so what are Namco-Bandai doing with Tekken X Street Fighter? Well although we dont have any gameplay footage to show you just yet, today Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono and tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada showed Gamescom attendees a first look at some 3D renders of Ryu in Tekken X Street Fighter. Below are two work in progress images of Ryu that Harada stressed would probably chage in time. He also showed an image of Jin and Ryu with the Devil and Evil Ryu hanging over their shoulders. Namco Bandai has announced that they will be keeping up their new of the bargain and will be unveiling Tekken X Street Fighter at GamesCom later this month.

Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada and Street Fighter producer Yoshinoro Ono will both be in attendance at Gamescon Cologne to give us all the very first glimpse at Namco’s take on the mega fighter collaboration. Street Fighter X Tekken was shown off to the public last month at Comic Con.

Better still is the news that the unveil event will be open to the public, so if you’re heading down to Gamescon, head to Konrad-Adenauer-Saal building at 2pm on Thursday August 19th. Bring it.

With all the Street Fighter X Tekken madness going on today, you’d nearly have missed the fact that there are TWO Tekken/ Street Fighter games on the way. The one that Yoshinori Ono debuted at Comic Con 2010 today was Street Fighter X Tekken (pronounced Street Fighter cross Tekken). But Namco and Katsuhiro Harada are working on they’re one take on this unique collaboration, presumably called Tekken X Street Fighter. Are you confused yet?

In Laymans terms….Comic Con 2010 = Namco + Capcom = two Street Fighter Tekken crossover games. EPIC WIN.
