When I first saw Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time I hated it. I hated how it didn’t stick too closely to the games, how Jake Gyllenhaal was chosen to play the Prince, how Ben Kingsley pouted his lips and how it all came together as a typical summer blockbuster. I expected more from The Sands of Time. However, things change and since my last viewing of The Sands of Time my opinion of it has gone up a great deal. I think it’s one of the best videogame films to date, actually.

Ubisoft have today announced a new Prince of Persia title subtitled ‘The Forgotten Sands’. It won’t be a direct sequel to the Prince’s last outing (you know the one where you can’t die); instead ‘The Forgotten Sands’ will continue from where the ‘Sands of Time’ trilogy ended. Sounds interesting. We can also confirm that ‘The Forgotten Sands’ will get it’s world exclusive debut Spike TV’s Video Game Awards on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at 8 p.m. EST. The game is set for release on in May 2010 and will pretty much feature on every format. More news on this as we get it.
