It’s official. The long awaited third game in the GameCube’s much loved Pikmin series will finally get a full reveal at E3 in June for Nintendo’s Wii U console.

Of all the Gamecube first party Nintendo IP’s that needs it’s own game on Wii, Pikmin must rank near the top. Now, Gamecube conversions with Wiimote controls aside, the Wii is screaming out for it’s own Pikmin game and fresh from his achievements at last night’s BAFTA’s, Mr. Miyamoto has apparently confirmed to Official Nintendo Magazine that development of a new Pikmin is well underway. ONM tweeted the following last night:

“ONM is at the BAFTAs! Miyamoto just told us Pikmin 3 development is ‘well under way,’

It as always been assumed that Pikmin 3 was on the way, but this is the first we’ve certainly heard of the game in quite a long time. Let’s hope for an E3 reveal, along with Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Kid Icarus Wii (I wish……).
