North American PS3/PSN users have been able to subscribe to the Qore news/preview service for some time now. Qore is of course a paid service but it has it’s perks, most notably beta access codes and advance demos. So it’s great to hear that Sony have finally created a Qore like service for Europe in the shape of ‘First Play’. First Play will be available through the PSN and is spearheaded by Future Publishing Group, the guys behind the Official Playstation Magazine. It will include all of Qore’s perks as well as the usual HD reviews and previews.

“As PlayStation 3 moves the gaming experience to a more social and competitive online environment through the PlayStation Network, so it becomes critical that we’re offering gamers the very best content and services through this channel,” said Ray Maguire, Senior Vice President of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment UK. “FirstPlay is a great example of this.”

Prices have only been announced in Sterling at the moment with each episode coming in at 99p or £8.99 for a three month subscription. Watch the launch trailer below. Will you be subscribing?
