Gears of War 3 beta hands-on

by Joseph Murphy - on Apr 25th 2011 at 1:24 pm (IST). This post has 1 Comment

I’m not the biggest Gears fan on the planet, in fact I’ve had good and bad times on the game in the past, so just how would Gears of War 3

Hands On Impressions: Duke Nukem: Forever

Giant aliens, crude jokes, busty strippers, ridiculously over the top weaponry, one liners galore and explosive red barrels…..Oh yes, Duke is back baby! Hail to the mutha-f***ing King!

TGL Move Hands-On Round-Up

Recently we had the opportunity to get hands-on with Sony’s new Move controller. The device itself was surprisingly light, it’ll be affordable and overall we were

Heavy Rain Move Edition Hands-On Impressions

by Shane Willoughby - on Aug 19th 2010 at 2:44 pm (IST). This post has No Comments

Part of the reason we loved Heavy Rain so much when it launched earlier this year was because of its intuitive control scheme. Interaction with the games story comes in the form of a non-traditional scheme, one that shuns conventional models for a stylized and sophisticated scheme which was intriguing as it was best befitting of the game. Primary interactions in this world lie in the series of button prompts and quick time events embedded in the game. The PS3’s often ignored Sixaxis functionality was also used to great effect in the game. There’s no mindless button bashing in Heavy Rain, only direct, creative and comprehensive button play. Those of you well versed with the traditional Playstation Dual Shock genuinely had to look down at your pad to ‘think’ about how you’re going to make your fingers adjust to certain positions. Without these controls, Heavy Rain would not have worked as well as it did. Playing the game for 20 minutes using the Playstation Move controller adds an extra layer to the Heavy Rain experience and genuinely raises the game’s interactive capacity up a notch.

TV Superstars Hands-On Impressions

by Joseph Murphy - on Aug 19th 2010 at 2:39 pm (IST). This post has No Comments

I’m not one for party/family games and when I picked up Move to play TV superstars I wasn’t expecting much of anything really, but soon my doubts changed and I became totally engrossed in what I was doing: making

The Fight: Lights Out Hands-On Impressions

by Joseph Murphy - on Aug 19th 2010 at 2:37 pm (IST). This post has No Comments

Naturally this game would always be compared to say Wii Boxing: purely because it’s boxing and you use the Move remote but this is no Wii title. The Fight: Lights out is a dark, murky and gritty in your face

Kung Fu Rider Hands-On Impressions

One of the most bizarre titles I have ever come across was in many ways the most charming. Kug Fu Rider, also known as Slider has a simple story really: the triads are after you and you have to

EyePet Move Edition Hands-On Impressions

by Shane Willoughby - on Aug 19th 2010 at 2:28 pm (IST). This post has No Comments

EyePet released late last year in Europe on Playstation 3 and is the best dedicated Playstation Eye game on the console. It’s more than just a cutesy game for the whole family; it’s an augmented reality game that shows off what the Playstation Eye is capable of achieving when put to task. We were treated to 20 odd minutes of EyePet’s updated Playstation Move edition and the results we’re impressive.

Start The Party! Hands-On Impressions

by Shane Willoughby - on Aug 19th 2010 at 2:26 pm (IST). This post has No Comments

Start The Party!, formally known as Move Party, is a Playstation Move party game that boasts an impressive collection of random mini games and four player multiplayer madness. Of all the Playstation Move titles we recently got to play, Start The Party! is the one that probably surprised me the most. It wacky, whimsical and simple and packs a ton of charm and humour. I didn’t want my controller down and walk away from the Start The Party! booth. That’s how fun this game is.

The Shoot Hands-On Impressions

by Shane Willoughby - on Aug 19th 2010 at 2:22 pm (IST). This post has No Comments

The Shoot is exactly what it’s title claims it to be. It’s a shooter that takes place while shooting a string of Hollywood movies. Using the Playstation Move controller, The Shoot is an arcade style rail shooter in the same vain as any of the Resident Evil rail shooters of Time Crisis. You don’t have lives in the game, you have takes. Seeing as you are on a movie set all of the time, you must try and get through the scene without using up all your takes. It’s a quirky little idea that sets a humorous tone, rather than serious one. It’s essentially the Move’s first Light Gun title and will no doubt prove to not be the last

Sports Champions Hands-On Impressions

Now this was a title I have wanted to play from the minute I saw the original trailer. Not because I wanted to try something that would on paper would resemble a simple Wii title, but because

Medal Of Honor Beta Impressions. We've Rolled These DICE Before

by Shane Willoughby - on Jun 30th 2010 at 1:59 pm (IST). This post has 2 Comments

Have you had a chance to play Medal of Honor’s multiplayer beta? Having given the beta a couple of hours on Playstation 3, there is no doubt that MOH’s multiplayer is certainly shaping up to an enjoyable experience.

However, one can’t help but to be somewhat underwhelmed by what’s on exhibit in this beta. As it is, MOH’s multiplayer is a flawed experience, dare I say it, an average shooter we’ve already seen dozens of times before, marred by fundamental gameplay imperfections and bugs, all of which suck away at the game’s actual strong points. But, there’s something else amiss. It just doesn’t feel right. It has more in common with mediocre than it is has with anything else.
