Nintendo has confirmed that the rumoured “Wii Mini” is actually a thing and will be available from December 7th and will be exclusive to Canada.
Earlier today, leaked images of the console appeared on Best Buy’s official website. The console will come in red only, with a red Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck of the same colour. Online play and internet abilities have been removed. It will not play GameCube games either. As it is, it’s exclusive to Canada and no other territory. It will retail for a cent shy of $100.
“There are games in the Wii library for every type of player,” said Ron Bertram, Nintendo of Canada’s vice president and general manager. “Wii Mini is a great gift for the holidays that brings everyone in the family together to play. Wii Mini has a mini price, but it’s all about big fun.”
The Wii’s successor, the Wii U, launched in North America earlier this month. It’s available in Ireland and Europe this Friday.
