The Wii-U is out Stateside and according to at least one source, unplugging your Wii-U during it’s day-one 5GB firmware update, kills your console.

The update takes quite some time to download (over two hours), and the very impatient Ben Fritz of the LA Times has reported that his Wii U is now dead and redundant, all because he plugged his Wii-U in the middle of the download.

Fritz reports that there is no cancel update option or warning about unplugging the system. His console is now officially bricked.

“Warning: don’t unplug your Wii U during the 2 hour plus software update or the console stops working”, Fritz tweeted.

The Wii-U is available in Europe later this month. And for the love of god, don’t turn off the console mid-update.
