Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is coming to Wii U later in the year. The news comes from Nintendo Direct’s Wii U presser held earlier this afternoon.

The Wii U version will run at 60FPS and in full HD and will utilise all of the console’s unique functionality. During two player splitscreen for example, the GamePad can be used as an entire second screen, allowing one player to play on the TV screen, and the other to play on the GamePad. That’s pretty cool to be honest.

Activision’s Eric Hirshberg added that, “The integrated second screen of the GamePad creates new possibilities for how games can be played, and further reflects the innovation Nintendo has poured into the Wii U.”

We’re still waiting for a confirmed release date, but either way, this will not be a diluted simple port of Black Ops 2 as it will be appearing on PC, PS3 and 360.

As soon as we get more details, we’ll get them to you.
