John Carmack says DOOM 4 will be done “when it’s done”

Id’s John Carmack told QuakeCon attendees yesterday that DOOM 4 will be “done when it’s done”.

He went on reiterate that Id is very much “all hands on deck” with DOOM 4, even closing down it’s in-house mobile development division to get more staff working on their triple A games like DOOM 4.

“The Bethesda family really is about swinging for the fences,” Carmack said. “I hope that we do get back to mobile in various ways in the future, but the real aim is blockbuster triple-A titles, and for Id that means Doom 4.

“Essentially everybody will be focused on Doom 4 as a project.”

DOOM 3 is getting a re-release this year in the BFG Edition due this October on PS3, 360 and PC.
