Epic’s director of production Rod Fergusson has left Gears of War dev Epic Games to join the team at Irrational Games.

Announcing the news via twitter, Fergusson confirmed that he is now Irrational’s Executive Vice President of Development. Fergusson, who starts at Irrational today, also took time out to tweet a little praise about the return of BioShock:

“And yes I’ve played Infinite and it’s amazing! Can’t wait for you guys to get your hands on it.”

Irrational Games has faced a troubled few days with a string of high-profile members of the team already departing the studio. Speaking with Kotaku, Irrational’s Big Daddy Ken Levine assured readers that, although there has been a loss of talent, there’s certainly no lack of it:

“As far as the team itself, the lead artist, the art director, the creative director, the lead effects artist, the senior sound guy, the lead programmer and the lead AI programmer from BioShock 1 are all on BioShock Infinite.”

BioShock Infinite launches February next year.
