Kotaku is sensationally rumouring this morning that Square-Enix has pulled the plug on Final Fantasy Versus XIII development after 6+ years in the making.
Kotaku has heard from “several sources” that the oft delayed RPG has been cancelled, with one source suggesting that this is only a recent decision taken in the last couple of weeks.
Apparently, Square-Enix will not announce the game’s cancellation, instead they will rely on knowledge of the game simply fading away. However, FF Versus XIII assets will be absorbed by another un-announced Final Fantasy game, presumably a new numbered game in Final Fantasy XV. It’s been over two years since last we saw any gameplay.
We’ll keep you posted.
