THQ has released some brand new Company of Hereos 2 screens.
The new screens show off the new “ColdTech” engine which aims to accurately portray the bitter Soviet weather. According to the THQ, Company of Heroes 2 will see soldiers face an all new danger as they can freeze to death “unless the player keeps them warm by building fires and garrisoning them in buildings”.
The new ColdTech system also allows the “Essence Engine” to paint on and remove snow in real time which means not only does it accumulate on buildings and vehicles, but it can also be melted or removed from objects by the player. Snow will also affect as well as retaining ” infantry and vehicle tracks throughout the match unless covered by fresh snow fall”.
Company of Heroes 2 also supports a new dynamic blizzards element which will increase the effects of the extreme cold on troops. Finally, to top of all that, there’s also confirmation that ice can now collapse under pressure and weight as well as it being used as a weapon against unfortunate troops and vehicles.
