Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed that a Wii U build of Zelda is still in R&D.

Speaking with EW, Miyamoto said that while the game is still in a early phase, the firm are looking back over Skyward Sword in efforts to learn worked and what didn’t. This, Miyamoto adds, will help to “evolve” the latest Zelda:

Yeah. With the last game, Skyward Sword, that was a game where you had motion control to use your weapons and a lot of different items, and I thought that was a lot of fun, but there were some people who weren’t able to do that or didn’t like it as much and stopped playing partway through it. So we’re in the phase where we’re looking back at what’s worked very well and what has been missing and how can we evolve it further.

With that in mind, guesses are already flying as to when we’ll actually see the title, and what sorts of lessons were learned from Skyward Sword. Seems we’ll have to play the waiting game a little longer.
