Starbreeze’s CEO Mikael Nermark has said that while he’s “proud” of their efforts to reboot Syndciate, the title was a “lost battle”.

Speaking with Edge, Nermark spoke openly about the difficulty developing the title due to the history behind the beloved franchise:

“If we didn’t do an exact copy of the game, they’d hate us. If we did do an exact copy, they’d say we didn’t innovate. They were never ours to win; it was a lost battle from the get-go.”

Syndicate received generally luke-warm to positive reviews, but the sales of the title has proved to be insufficient at best. To read the whole interview, head on over through the link above.
