Oddworld Inhabitants has revealed they’re working on a HD revival of Abe’s Oddysee.
Posting the announcement on facebook, the dev team confirmed the news via the the following message:
“We decided to reboot it, not just an HD update to the original PS1 title, this is a NEW game. It will be getting it’s first public showing LATER this year, with a release date of NEXT summer (2013).”
Fans appeared to be a little confused at first, so the rather odd chaps at Oddworld cleared things up:
“To extra clarify Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee HD, it is a remake of the original PS1 title, however we have started it from scratch using the original as a blueprint… Ok?”
The game will feature 2d gameplay with 3D graphics, and introduce quicksaves. More information is promised in September.
