Game Informer has lifted the lid on their June edition and their next big reveal, The Elder Scrolls Online, the forever-rumored MMO in development at ZeniMax Online Studios.
Taking place in Tamriel some 1,000 years before Skyrim, The Elder Scrolls Online will concentrate on the story of the daedric prince Molag Bal and his efforts to take over the land.
“It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years,” director Matt Firor told GI. “The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”
It’s slated for a 2012 release on PC and MAC. Goodbye life.

As a huge fan of the Elder Scrolls… this doesn’t interest me. I don’t know, maybe it’s my inability to enjoy MMO’s, but I didn’t even briefly get excited when I saw this news. Another big MMO to die a slow like The Old Republic is (apparently) doing? Who knows. Personally, TES has always been a single player expereince for me. It’s the last franchise to not needlessly shoe horn in a multiplayer. But hey, maybe this will keep it like that, you know, satisfy the TES who want online capabilities without shitting on the main franchise.
Gotta agree with Retro, as much as I’ve loved the last 3 TES games, I can’t get hyped for this.
I’m just not an MMO player. I tried with TOR, but got bored of the repetitiveness after a week or two.
I do hope this is a success though, and that they keep multiplayer away from the main games.
