Well, it pains me to bring you this news, but here we go.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developer GSC World have announced they have cannot complete S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 development and have instead, created their own studio to start up a brand new IP. Announcing the news via twitter, GSC World confirmed that financial difficulty wasn’t the reasoning behind the change, it was in fact the inability to secure the rights to continue development of the title. Their brand new IP “Survarium” is currently being developed under the new studio name “Vostok Games”. While details about the MMO are primitive at the moment, it is confirmed to be set in a post-apocalytpic world and will be free to play for all.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is “officially” dead it seems, but rumours are already spreading that Bethesda have signed a deal with GSC owner Sergiy Grygorovych to secure the franchise – this would see S.T.A.L.K.E.R. continue in some light. More details as we get them.
