About time really isn’t it?
Australia it seems is about to finally get it’s own “18+” rating – with the legislation expected to pass later this month. Confirming the news, r18games australia said that legislation has been cleared by the Labour Party and now awaits parliment processing. While TDs Jason Clare and Brendan O’Connor support the move, there’s still crossbench MPs that have remained silent about the whole ordeal.
As you might know, prior to this rating, any game that didn’t fit into the “MA15+” bracket was refused classification. This meant watered down titles, a high level of censorship and more. This move will not only see games rated in accordance to their natural content, but it also means that children under the age of 15 won’t have the titles sitting on their shelf in the first place.
‘Bout time.
Thanks, capsulecomputers
