Perception Studios CEO Ben Lenzo has confirmed to TGL that there was once a Stargate RTS in production.
In our exclusive interview, which goes live tomorrow, Ben details that although the RTS was in the very early stages of development, it featured some RPG elements, as well as allowing the player to essentially become a “system lord” – by ganining control over numerous Stargate terminals which spanned the galaxy.
The scrapped RTS featured a unique resource capturing system which allowed the Goa’uld to harvest fear, humans to harvets good will and the Haakan to harvest captured souls:
Sure, we had to build a good RTS around that idea, but that persistent element made it Stargate, it really did. Another idea was that a resource for the Goa’uld would be fear, while the humans’ resource would be good will. The Haakan were in their too. They would capture souls as power.
A Stargate RTS anyone? We say yes please.
