id Software have confirmed that an unknown number of employees have been let go.
Confirming the news to Joystiq, id’s parent company Bethesda Softworks said that as part of “standard business practice”, some id Software staff members will now leave the company. As you may remember, the latest title from id came in the form of the rather beautifil RAGE. Here’s the official statement:
“As part of its standard business practice, id regularly evaluates staffing to ensure it has a workforce that meets the needs of the studio. As part of that process, some id employees were recently let go.”
Despite the news, Bethesda were keen to note that:
“development work on future id titles continues unabated”
While it’s nice to know that titles like Doom 4 still might reach our screens, we’d like to wish those affected the very best.
