THQ have all but formally announced the end of the Red Faction franchise.
THQ CEO Brian Farrell told investors this morning that the company will now longer push the franchise forward in any sort of “meaningful” way.
“Given that that title, now in two successive versions, has just found a niche, we do not intend to carry forward with that franchise in any meaningful way.”
Farrell described the last two installments in the series, Guerrilla and this year’s Armageddon as only appealing to ‘niche’ consumers, with poor sales reinforcing the decision to essentially shelf the franchise.

R.I.P Red Faction 2001-2011
Damn. It’s a sad day. Though, imo Red Faction 1 & 2 were the best FPS on PS2, the last few weren’t great at all. It’s a sad moment to know that the awesomeness that was Red Faction 2 will never be replicated.
I’m sure they may consider developing it on the next gen in half a decade or so.
