Resident Evil 5 wasn’t exactly everyone’s cup of tea. With such a huge impetus put on action, the franchise’s original philosophy of big frights and zombie horror was very much put on the back burner. Capcom know this and have hinted that the next game in the core numbered franchise will go back to that original ethos that we all fell in love with so emphatically back in the day.
Speaking with the guys over at Rely on Horror at E3, a Capcom rep told the site that they expect that fans of Resident Evil of old will appreciate the direction the series is going in. It would seem that Resi is finally going back to its roots. Resident Evil 6 is coming.
“We know that alot of fans want more horror back for the next one, the development team knows that as well and we read a lot of comments, messageboards, and ask for feedback, and there was a lot of critisism about RE5′s focus on action,” said the rep.
“I think that you’ll like the direction the dev team is shifting for the next one.”
Thanks to VG247 for spotting this.

I know not everybody was a fan of RE5′s CO-OP but I thought the Lost in Nightmares DLC did a good job showing that you can still build suspense even with two people. I expect RE6 to drop the CO-OP experience but I would like to see them try it again at some point in the future.
I thought Resi 5 was great, couldn’t fault it. But that pic is a good omen, my dreams are still haunted by Tyrant after Resi 2!!
