Oh noes. It seems that the new Hitman could possibly alienate long-term fans of the franchise…
In a preview with the game at E3, Gamefront have detailed something named “Instinct” that Agent 47 can use. The Instinct ability will allow Agent 47 to “see through walls to an extent when he sees enemies pass behind them”. The ability also “creates a flaming line along the ground that highlights those enemies’ apparent paths of movement”.
Gamefront goes on to also note that by using the mode “47 can anticipate actions and patrols and hide”. Is this a change to the forumla that fans will appreciate? We don’t like the sound of it…

Making the Hitman games more “casual” (that means making it EASY enough for everyone to play) is certainly not the way forward for the Hitman series. The games are perfect as they are. There was plenty of accomodation for casual players in all previous titles anyway. They could set it on easy difficulty or they could just gun their way through the levels if they wanted. They’d be doing it wrong but hey, that’s casual gamers.
I’m hoping and praying that you wont sacrifice the integrity of the Hitman series just to grab a few extra bucks from the A.D.D. suffering casual gaming demographic.
I heard this Instinct mode will actually be replacing the map function, which may make the game harder, as you may not know where your target is exactly from the moment you start. And the level of Instinct may vary depending on the difficulty level. The main point is that “we don’t know!” I think it’s unfair to say this will alienate fans when we barely know anything about it.
