The first Crysis 2 press scores are surfacing in the web and after the Official Xbox Magazine gave it a 9 last week, the Official Playstation Magazine have weighed in with an 8.

OPM describes Crysis 2 as “excellent – technically strong, visually outstanding and full of welcome fresh ideas.”

However, the opening sequence is quote “bungled” and after five hours of “persisting” through “a thorny, poorly signposted and indifferent shooter”, the game starts to find its feet.

“Developer Crytek has a deserved reputation for pushing gaming hardware to the brink and its debut work on PS3 is first-rate,” it reads.

“It doesn’t just look good, it looks different. The Manhattan mix of crooked concrete spires and green urban spaces is refreshing after the relentless dark khaki backgrounds of Call of Duty and Medal of Honor.”

So Crysis 2 is impressing however one can imagine that Crytek want better scores than 8s and 9s.
