Sony has just confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 will finally hit Irish shelves November 24th. Speaking on the Playstation EU Blog, European Brand Manager Penrose Tackie announced the news and also included thoughts about the entire project by the brain behind it all Kazunori Yamauchi:
“Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Programme! When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with GT5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologise to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed.”

You are speaking to a converted. I bought Gran Turismo 1 with a Dual Shock upon release way back when. I hated getting the Licenses… I bought Gran Turismo 2, for the snazzier visuals and yet again I hated it… I didn’t bother getting GT3.. or 4… But hilariously enough, when I bought my PSP Go, I fell in love with the bundled Gran Turismo PSP. This caused me to try out GT5 when at Gamescom earlier this year, A game I probably would’ve ignored before I played GT PSP… Unbelievable game, GT5 from what I played of it… Do you know if anywhere will be doing midnight openings? Cause I will so be there…
Well…Limerick is different to Dublin!! I’d bet there would be a few around Dublin doing it. I hope it delivers what the fans have been waiting for, I mean when I played it I wasn’t too impressed at all to be frank
Hold your horses people. It’s still not on shelves, nobody’s hopes should be raised this game has a habit of crushing them.
